Orbia CEO Interview: Leading Through Volatility While Positioning Orbia for Growth

by Sameer Bharadwaj, Chief Executive Officer, Orbia | Dec 11, 2025

In a recent interview with MIT Sloan Management Review, Orbia CEO Sameer Bharadwaj shared his perspective on leading Orbia through one of the most volatile macroeconomic climates in the company’s history.

Despite navigating inflationary pressures, high interest rates and geopolitical disruptions, Bharadwaj emphasized that Orbia remains focused on its purpose: advancing life around the world through solutions that address food and water security, the energy transition and connectivity infrastructure.

Bharadwaj affirmed that the company is positioning itself to capitalize on the inevitable market recovery and explained, “This means optimizing our footprint, making sure our cost structure is right, being judicious in fiscal discipline, driving commercial excellence, strategic pricing — all the basics of managing a business in tough times — while preserving our market share and continuing to innovate.”

Throughout the conversation, Bharadwaj highlighted priorities and long-term enablers anchoring Orbia’s business strategy:

  • Operational discipline and cost optimization to weather downturns without sacrificing innovation.
  • Long-term focus supported by a controlling shareholder, allowing perseverance through short-term pressures and investing in “a future worth inheriting.”
  • Innovation in essential sustainable materials and solutions that will drive future growth.

Reflecting on Orbia’s resilience, Bharadwaj stressed, “For the businesses we are in, the fundamentals haven’t changed. There will be a time when the markets turn, the world stabilizes, interest rates come down, and demand will come back.”
