Climate Action and Waste Management
Optimizing Processes to Drive Efficiencies
In 2025, Orbia Polymer Solutions launched its first energy treasure hunt at the Altamira site in Mexico, identifying efficiency opportunities that delivered more than 900 MWh in energy savings and over $47,000 in cost reductions. The initiative engaged cross‑functional teams and will be expanded to additional sites.
Expanding Renewable Electricity
In 2025, Orbia increased on‑site solar generation by 57% year over year and raised renewable electricity to 26% of total consumption. Progress was driven by higher renewable use at the Marl site in Germany and a Building & Infrastructure PPA in Ecuador that doubled supply and delivered over $700,000 in savings.
Waste Management and Circularity
Turning Unavoidable Waste into Circular Value
At Orbia’s Marl site in Germany, a first‑of‑its‑kind separation process now converts quench acid from methyl chloride production into usable hydrochloric acid. The project recovers about 90% of the waste, avoids roughly 7,000 tons of CO₂ annually and reduces natural gas use by more than 90%.
Closing the Loop in Materials
Across Orbia, circularity is advancing through material recovery and reuse. Connectivity Solutions repurposed more than 115,000 conduit reels and launched lower‑emissions products made with internal regrind. Precision Agriculture recycled over 14,000 tons of end‑of‑life driplines through its ReGen program. Fluor & Energy Materials expanded refrigerant recovery and is developing low‑impact materials using recovered mineral tailings—reducing emissions while extending the value of resources.
Water and Nature
Water Efficiency
Orbia applies high‑efficiency water‑management practices across its manufacturing sites, including closed‑loop systems and alternative water sources. Following a drought‑related disruption in Altamira, Mexico, investments in cooling and recovery systems improved resilience and enabled a 20% reduction in water consumption compared with a 2019 baseline.
Solutions for Water‑Positive Impact
Through a 10‑year collaboration with Microsoft and SANASA in Campinas, Brazil, Orbia is reducing water losses using advanced network management solutions. After just one year, the initiative delivered a water benefit of over 370,000 cubic meters, supporting long‑term water replenishment and urban water resilience.
Conserving Ecosystem Services in Mexico
Through a long‑standing partnership with CONAFOR, Orbia Fluor & Energy Materials supports conservation of the Sierra de Álvarez Natural Protected Area in San Luis Potosí. Since 2016, the initiative has invested over $200,000 to conserve and rehabilitate 1,705 hectares, strengthening biodiversity, water catchment and ecosystem resilience.
People and Safety
Strengthening Safety Through Shared Programs
In 2025, Orbia strengthened shared safety programs across all business groups, expanding workplace observations, audits and employee engagement initiatives. Through the Safety Observation Program, more than 178,000 observations were recorded—an 8% increase year over year—reinforcing hazard awareness, accountability and continuous improvement across operations.
Advancing Leadership Development
In 2025, the second cohorts of Orbia’s Succeed and Achieve programs graduated, reinforcing the company’s commitment to talent development and diverse leadership. Participants highlighted the practical content, cross‑Orbia networking, collaborative learning and meaningful engagement with senior leaders as key strengths of the programs.
Thriving Communities
Building Trust and Shared Value With Communities
In 2025, Orbia’s Fluor & Energy Materials mining operation in Mexico maintained its Social License to Operate through transparent engagement and community investment. Infrastructure, education and cultural initiatives advanced under the Community Development Plan, while third‑party assessments confirmed strong social management practices and stakeholder engagement.
Water That Brings Life in Colombia
Through its Water That Brings Life program, Orbia improved water and sanitation access in rural communities in Colombia. Projects in Sesquilé and Soledad delivered rainwater harvesting and household sewer connections, benefiting more than 450 people while strengthening WASH conditions, community resilience and long‑term water stewardship.
Expanding Precision Irrigation for Smallholder Farmers
Through the Crece Agricultor program, Orbia Netafim is expanding access to precision irrigation for smallholder farmers in Peru. In its first year, the program trained more than 850 farmers, improved productivity through efficient water and fertilizer use and earned recognition for advancing sustainable water management and resilient livelihoods.
VITA: Strengthening the Recycling Ecosystem
VITA, part of Orbia’s Vinyl in Motion program, strengthens the LATAM recycling ecosystem by supporting recyclers in turning PVC waste into high‑quality materials. In 2025, the initiative supported five recycling companies, created over 120 jobs and earned the Corporate Commitment to the Circular Economy Award, while expanding its model to Mexico.
Inspiring the Next Generation in STEM
Across regions, Orbia supports STEM education through long‑standing and community‑based initiatives. In Germany, the Jugend Forscht competition has engaged more than 900 students over the past decade, with female participation now exceeding 50%. In Latin America and the U.S., hands‑on programs connect students with Orbia STEM leaders, real‑world applications and diverse career pathways—strengthening local talent pipelines and advancing gender equity.
Time4Water
Time4Water is Orbia’s flagship global volunteering campaign, bringing employees together to protect water security in the communities where they live and work. In 2025, the program mobilized more than 2,500 volunteers across 31 countries, supported by 150 local champions, who contributed over 7,000 volunteer hours through more than 110 activities. These efforts included reforestation events that planted over 4,200 trees, awareness walks covering more than 4,300 kilometers, community clean‑ups that removed over 3,300 kilograms of waste and water workshops that engaged more than 3,300 people.
